Movie quote Sunday

This Sunday the quotes come from one of my all time favorites:     Shawshank Redemption

Red: [narrating] I could see why some of the boys took him for snobby. He had a quiet way about him, a walk and a talk that just wasn’t normal around here. He strolled, like a man in a park without a care or a worry in the world, like he had on an invisible coat that would shield him from this place. Yeah, I think it would be fair to say… I liked Andy from the start.

Red: [narrating] I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I’d like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can’t be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.

Red: [narrating] In 1966, Andy Dufresne escaped from Shawshank prison. All they found of him was a muddy set of prison clothes, a bar of soap, and an old rock hammer, damn near worn down to the nub. I used to think it would take six-hundred years to tunnel under the wall with it. Old Andy did it in less than twenty. Oh, Andy loved geology. I guess it appealed to his meticulous nature. An ice age here, million years of mountain building there. Geology is the study of pressure and time. That’s all it takes really, pressure, and time. That, and a big god-damned poster. Like I said, in prison a man will do anything to keep his mind occupied. It turns out Andy’s favorite hobby was totin’ his wall through the exercise yard, a handful at a time. I guess after Tommy was killed, he decided he had been here just about long enough. Andy did like he was told, buffed those shoes to a high mirror shine. The guard simply didn’t notice. Neither did I… I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a mans shoes? Andy crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of shit smelling foulness I can’t even imagine, or maybe I just don’t want to. Five hundred yards… that’s the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile.

Shawshank Redemption Quotes

Red: [narrating] Andy Dufresne, who crawled through a river of shit and came out clean on the other side.

Red: [narrating] I find I’m so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it’s the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.

~ It’s a little place on the Pacific Ocean. You know what the Mexicans say about the Pacific? They say it has no memory. That’s where I want to live the rest of my life. A warm place with no memory. Open up a little hotel right on the beach. Buy some worthless old boat and fix it up new. Take my guests out charter fishing…You know, in a place like that, I could use a man that knows how to get things.~

Andy Dufresne, who crawled through a river of shit and came out clean on the other side. Andy Dufresne, headed for the Pacific. Those of us who knew him best talk about him often. I swear the stuff he pulled. Sometimes it makes me sad, though, Andy being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright and when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice, but still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.~

~ Get busy livin’, or get busy dyin’. That’s god-damn right. For the second time in my life, I am guilty of committing a crime. Parole violation. Of course, I doubt they’ll toss up any roadblocks for that. Not for an old crook like me.~

For those of you who love seeing pictures of beautiful houses (house porn), possible diy tips, enjoy watching the building process, looking for design ideas and/or watching how a father and son build custom homes together. Please follow along @artisanbuilt The guys are laying these massive tiles out on the porch at the Smith project. I had my doubts early on but I think when finished it's going to look sharp. .

#artisanbuilders #customhomes#customtile#finehomebuilding The party is over. Back to school. Obligatory picture of the first day tells the story! God speed teachers. #brenhamelementaryschool New trucker! What do you think? TGIF friends! Dad and I surveying a future spot for another Artisan Builders project. Paging Dr. Pork Butts.
1) inject with apple juice and spices
2) cover with yellow mustard and coat with dry rub
3)place on the barbi over mesquite coals and hickory chunks
4) drink beer
5) smoke for 6 hrs doing your best to keep temp at 250 or below
6) drink beer
7) taking full advantage of modern appliances (slightly cheating) place pork butts into a pan covered with foil for a couple more hours to to create fall apart pork (hopefully)
8) just in case this doesn't work drink another beer. I don't always drink fine Japanese single malt whiskey. But when I do,it probably means a generous client bought it for me. Cheers my friends!🥃🥃
