    Tohner,

Your talent never ceases to amaze.

Is that light ac or dc? Prob easier to change a AA battery, but could not see a cord.

    Keep on truckin’.

      Thanks James,
Yea it’s a battery, I even thought about maybe a candle but with the two little terrorist running around in the house I figured it wouldn’t be prudent(Dana Carvey)

Wait, you carved a left hand or you carved with your left hand? Either way, looks cool.

Also, I’ve been reading Lloyd’s book. You’re in great company, and you’re right that it only furthers my desire for a tricked out camper van. Sadly, I don’t have your woodworking skills, so I’ll have to buy one that’s ready-made. Someday.

Well it’s funny, I thought that it was my first left hand carving and then I realized the other three including yours (I think) was a lefty. Strange I don’t think I ever consciously decided to carve a left I suppose it may be due to the fact that my right hand is usually the dominant carver and since I don’t really draw anything on the wood I use my left as a visual reference.

Yea Lloyd’s book is so incredibly dense with so many cool people doing cool shit and every time I pick it up I randomly open it,I love books that can be digested slowly.

On this the day of my Birthday (plug in godfathers voice). I am still sick with the flu that started Monday afternoon. I haven’t thrown in the towel on having a little celebration with my poor family that are trapped in the house with me like rats on a sinking ship tonight. I kid I kid I’m the luckiest guy on the planet I’ve been taken care of better then I deserve. So as I sit here watching so many triple D’s I have donkey sauce shooting out my eyeballs. Only to have a break during commercials where they force feed you drug commercials for an ailment they hope you have. Well....I leave you with this thought a clip from a movie I like, called Elizabeth Town. Plan your work and work your plan but at the end of the day shit is going to happen. You either keep on jamming to some Skynyrd or you scream and run away. Keep trucking. Party on Wayne. This fever induced entertainment is done. Go back to your regularly scheduled program. And yes in this clip I am not the cool musicians but rather the bird on fire. Keep it loose
Getting closer to wrapping up this phase of the restoration of the Seward Plantation. Restoration has not really been in our wheelhouse for the last 15 years or so. Instead focusing most of our time on new custom homes. But from time to time we make exceptions for projects that either need us or are exciting. This one was both. I’m proud of what we have done for this old house. Preservation is so incredibly important and this house found the right clients and the right builder. It has been said that, at its best, preservation engages the past in a conversation with the present over a mutual concern for the future. William J. Built a small secondary kitchen island cabinet for my house. * for the top I poured a concrete countertop using a reverse casting method (the bottom was the top). Inlaid mesquite rounds and broken glass from beer, wine and olive oil bottles. I also threw in some gemstones. Wet sanded with diamond orbital to expose aggregate, glass and stone. * built the cabinet carcass using native aromatic cedar (free score from dad) * the doors were faced with wild grapevine I harvested from the creek behind my house. Project cost - minimal Labor cost- don’t ask I’m not cheap🧐 Happy wife- priceless #homebuilder#chippylife #woodworker#buildit#brenham#brenhamtx#aromaticcedar #mesquitewood#concretecountertops #grapevine#imagination #onetreewoodwork #imbackbitches

With 2018 almost in the books it’s got me feeling grateful for the opportunities that I’ve had this year. We decided as a family that one more lake day was in order before the calendar change. Flying by the seat of my pants had my phone (very uncharacteristically) low on battery. This was the last photo it took of our lake day, which was awesome almost no boaters in site. So I leave you with this quote that I’ve always been partial to. Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road.
